Удивительно надежные батареи Red Box обладают низким внутренним сопротивлением и отдают максимум энергии. Портативные, их легко переносить, они могут работать в любом положении, даже перевернутые. Не обладают цикличностью, следовательно их можно заряжать в любое время. При полном заряде встроенный вольтметр показывает 26 В, при полном разряде – 24 В.
Время жизни батарей
Время жизни батареи зависит от циклов заряд/разряд и степени разряда. Это означает, что чем больше прошло циклов заряд/разряд и чем больше была степень разряда на каждом цикле, тем больше разрушаются пластины батареи и тем скорее она выйдет из строя. Следовательно, в худшем случае батарея регулярно полностью разряжается. При таком режиме работы батареи может хватить только на 200 циклов. Однако, если при каждом цикле степень разряда невелика (относительно полной емкости), то батарея может выдержать более 2000 циклов. Корректность, плавность и регулярность заряда также положительно сказывается на сроке жизни батареи. Очень важно зарядить батарею как можно скорее после использования, чтобы предотвратить начало сульфатации пластин, что будет отрицательно воздействовать на срок службы батареи и ее работу. Также очень важно избегать глубокого разряда (ниже 22 В). После такого разряда трудно, а иногда и невозможно вернуть батарею к нормальным эксплуатационным характеристикам. Вообще, является хорошей практикой ставить батарею на заряд столь долго и так часто, насколько это возможно. Рекомендуется, по возможности, заряжать батарею в течение 24 часов каждые 2 недели, чтобы достичь полного равновесия ячеек.
Поэтому нет определенной формулы, чтобы вычислить фактический срок службы батареи, но, у Red Box International Limited, есть опыт, статистика по времени возвратов батарей для замены ячеек. Грубое эмпирическое правило предполагает, что средняя жизнь батарей составляет приблизительно два года. В некоторых случаях время может быть меньше, а в некоторых - значительно больше.
Падение напряжения
Можно подумать, что у двух батарей одинакового напряжения, но с различными емкостями, было бы одинаковое падение напряжения при одинаковой нашрузке. Это Не верно. У батареи с большей способностью будет более низкое падение напряжения из-за большей площади поверхности пластины. Поскольку нагрузка распределена по большей области пластины, негативный эффект химических реакций уменьшается. Поэтому, когда Вы нуждаетесь в большей мощности, всегда выбирайте батарею с самой высокой емкостью.
Температура батарей
Все батареи страдают от низкой температуры. Это становится особенно важным, когда холод достигает внутренностей батареи.
В RedBox тщательно упаковывают батареи, так что охлаждение батареи займет некоторое время. Однако, при возвращении в тепло, потребуется некоторое время, чтобы возвратить батарею в полностью работоспособное состояние.
Поэтому важно следить за батареями, хранить их в тепле, насколько это возможно. Желательно использовать соответствующие чехлы и избегать охлаждения от ветра.
Эти действия задержат охлаждение батареи. Высокие технологии, используемые компанией RedBox при производстве кислотных батарей, уменьшают негативное влияние низкой температуры в сравнении с большинством самолетных батарей, но даже эти батареи в конечном счете пострадают, если не решать проблемы охлаждения.
Хранение
Батареи RedBox "необслуживаемые", не требуют пополнения электролита. Максимальное время хранения, между зарядками, составляет 2 года при 25°C (меньше при более высоких температурах). Полное время хранения составляет 15 лет (при отсутствии влажности).
